What academic achievements do I need for the study grant?
After the first two semesters, you must prove that you have successfully completed your studies in the amount of 30 ECTS credits that have been positively assessed.
If the proof of performance is not provided within the specified period (within the application period for the third semester, by December 15th in a winter semester and by May 15th in a summer semester), you must provide evidence of at least 15 ECTS credits in good time. Otherwise, the study grant received up to that point may be reclaimed.
If the course is interrupted or terminated after the first semester, certificates for at least 7 ECTS points must be submitted to the responsible scholarship office in order to avoid a refund of the entire amount received.
If you drop out of the course for which you have already received study grant after the second semester, you must at least prove that you have at least completed your studies (15 ECTS credits), otherwise you will also be threatened with a refund.
If you change your degree after the first semester, after the second semester you have to achieve the favorable degree either half from both fields of study or fully from one of the two. It is also possible to present the full proof of performance after the first semester.
For a master’s degree, 20 ECTS credits are required after the second semester, for a doctoral degree, 12 ECTS credits are required after the first two semesters. At least half of these must be submitted to the scholarship office in good time to avoid a refund.
If you can prove that you have successfully completed your studies in good time, you can secure your entitlement for the following semesters. In bachelor's and, until further notice, also in master's courses, the next proof of success is planned after the 6th semester in the amount of 90 ECTS points. In studies that are divided into study sections, the entitlement for the first section ends after the minimum study period plus a tolerance semester. The successful completion of the study section counts as proof of achievement.
From the winter semester 2024, an additional performance record after the 8th semester of 120 ECTS points will be introduced for bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
The summer semester 2020 is not counted in connection with the academic success. This applies to both family and study allowances.
