Basic tendency

The ÖH Uni Wien is a corporation under public law that manages its own affairs within the framework of the HSG and organizes its management according to the principles of correctness, expediency, economy and easy controllability. As a corporation under public law, it is established to represent the interests of its members and to support its members. All institutions and departments of the Students' Union at the University of Vienna must therefore comply with their statutory duties in their internal organization as well as in their political work and public appearance and adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. Promotion of FLINTA¹ persons (i.e. at least preferential allocation of positions to FLINTA persons with equal qualifications).
  2. Consideration of gender-specific aspects in all publications, at events, etc. (i.e. in particular the use of gender-equitable language, e.g. "splitting").
  3. Promoting the integration of people with disabilities.
  4. In-depth consideration of the interests and promotion of cooperation with students without Austrian citizenship and students who are affected by any kind of racism and/or anti-Semitism.
  5. Promotion and consideration of the special needs of financially or culturally disadvantaged students.

"FLINTA" is an acronym that includes the following groups of people: women, lesbians, inter, non-binary, trans and agender people - i.e. all those who are patriarchally discriminated against because of their gender identity or the gendering of their bodies

Responsible regulatory authority:
The ÖH Uni Wien is subject to supervision by the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research. Its management is audited by both the Control Commission and the Court of Audit (see §§ 63ff. HSG 2014).
