Remembrance of the November Pogrom 1938

No forgiving, no forgetting! We remember the pogroms on November 8th and 9th, 1938, during which Jewish businesses and synagogues were destroyed, and countless Jewish people were injured and killed.

On November 8th and 9th, 1938, pogroms occurred throughout the then German Reich, including Austria: Jewish businesses and synagogues were destroyed and looted, and countless Jewish people were injured or killed. The antisemitic attacks involved units of the NSDAP as well as large parts of the civilian population. In Vienna, a majority of the synagogues were destroyed, including the synagogue at the old General Hospital (AKH).

Especially in times when antisemitic attacks on Jewish life are on the rise, it is important not to forget the past. Therefore, the ÖH Uni Wien invites you to a short memorial service at the old synagogue on the campus.
